journey

About 5 years or so ago (when I was going through my divorce) I decided to train for another marathon. I thought maybe it would be a good idea to raise money for a charity so I chose to train with Team-In-Training through the Leukemia Society. The very first training run we had I met someone who I swore was one of my soul mates. It was just the strangest feeling as we just naturally gravitated toward one another for our first run. No words were necessary. We just ran. We knew we both had a ton of baggage on our shoulders. As we ran together through those long and grueling runs we realized we were both on a journey - a journey to heal and become strong again.

Two weeks ago, my friend Lauren - my soul mate, my running partner, my dear friend - married a wonderfully loving and beautiful man.  They asked me to photograph their family-only wedding and I have to say that I was extremely honored. I wouldn’t have turned it down for a million dollars.

I am not sure I have ever seen her any happier. Glowing. In love.  Happy. Yes, I said happy twice. It’s been a long journey for her and she is finally in a place where she feels whole again. I well up when I think about how much I love her and how she has found herself again. I wish she and Phillip a very long and loving life together.
